Wenjie Feng
(she/her)@wenjiefeng_
Wenjie Feng (b. Kunming) is a Chinese American multimedia artist based in London, currently studying Contemporary Art Practice MA at the Royal College of Art.
Growing up among the mountains and rivers of Yunnan shaped her sensitivity to materials and water. Her recent practice centres on natural dyeing on silk, alongside textiles, moving image, performance, and installation. Working with handmade pigments derived from plants, tea, charcoal, vegetables, and other natural materials, she embraces collaboration rather than control, allowing time, water, light, and natural processes to shape each work.
Through this sustained practice, she explores time, space, presence, mystery, love and loss, and the relationships between humans and the natural world. Daily acts of making have become a ritual of attention, trust, and presence, reconnecting her with nature while embracing uncertainty, imperfection, impermanence, and transformation.
Influenced by Buddhist philosophy, Zen, and the contemplative discipline of the tea ceremony, Feng creates contemplative spaces through colour, translucency, and the quiet power of empty space, where words fall away and a quiet spiritual connection can emerge.
